The Miracle of Guidance and Growth

Philip and the Ethiopian

26 Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Go south to the road—the desert road—that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” 27 So he started out, and on his way he met an Ethiopian[a] eunuch, an important official in charge of all the treasury of the Kandake (which means “queen of the Ethiopians”). This man had gone to Jerusalem to worship, 28 and on his way home was sitting in his chariot reading the Book of Isaiah the prophet. 29 The Spirit told Philip, “Go to that chariot and stay near it.”

30 Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. “Do you understand what you are reading?” Philip asked.

31 How can I,” he said, “unless someone explains it to me?” So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.

The Miracle of Guidance and Growth

Philip was led by the Holy Spirit to meet an Ethiopian Eunuch who had traveled a long distance with a heart to worship, yet he did not understand the Scriptures. When Philip asked if he understood what he was reading, the Eunuch humbly confessed that he could not and expressed a deep desire to learn. He invited Philip to come up and sit with him. Through this divine encounter, the Eunuch’s relationship with God grew, and their fellowship in the Holy Spirit deepened—a story that continues to inspire the whole world today.

A Prayer for Today:

Lord, let us see this miracle today.

  • Bless those who have started to read the Bible and pray every day to draw closer to You.

  • Bless those who find fellowship with one another through small groups and church activities.

  • Bless those who preach the Gospel to their neighbors, serving as the salt and light of the world.

Intercessions:

  • For the Seekers: We pray for those beginning a new spiritual journey, just as the Eunuch did.

  • For the Helpers: We pray for those who, like Philip, are called to walk alongside and help others.

  • For our Community: We pray for today’s meetings regarding the Patten Fire recovery and the installation of the new sound system.

  • For the World: We pray for our country and the world, especially for the people of Venezuela.

In Jesus' name, Amen.
